Flyback and Retrograde
The retrograde pointer, also known as "rebound", shows that the pointer takes an arc as the running track, and when it reaches the end point, it immediately bounces back to the starting point, so that the rotation of the pointer becomes a reciprocating motion, which is different from the general circular motion .
The characteristic of the flyback pointer is that it can return to its original position when the pointer reaches the end of the scale.
The difference between the two:
Flyback and retrograde look functionally similar, but their internal mechanics and working principles are completely different. The difference is that: the retrograde pointer moves in an arc, and the retrograde return is completed automatically; while the pointer of the flyback chronograph rotates in a circle, and its return to zero requires manual button operation, and can also be operated from Complete in both directions.
Minute repeater
Minute repeater, also known as three reeds, can distinguish the timekeeping of "hour", "quarter" and "minute" according to the different sounds of the three springs, which is the result of the ingenious application of acoustics and dynamics. The minute repeater generally uses a button or dial on the case to activate a series of devices to make sounds to report the time at that time.There is usually a dial handle or button on the side of the case. When it is dialed or pressed, it drives a series of mechanisms of the timekeeping device, and makes a sound by hitting a small hammer and a ring-shaped spring bar, so as to distinguish the time with hearing.
Zodiac Signs
The zodiac sign is one of the complications commonly used in astronomical watches. If the universe is regarded as a celestial sphere, then the great circle in which the orbital plane of the earth revolves around the sun expands infinitely and intersects with the celestial sphere is the ecliptic. The sun moves from west to east on the ecliptic every day. Starting from the vernal equinox on the ecliptic, people divide the ecliptic into 12 equal segments, each segment is 30° long, called a palace, which means that the sun moves and stays in a palace every month. In 12 months of the year, the sun passes through these 12 palace in turn, a total of 360°. These 12 "Sun Palaces" are named after the 12 constellations of the zodiac and are known as the zodiac signs. A watch with the function of the zodiac shows the situation of the sun's stay and activity in each palace during the 12 months of the year.
Sidereal time
Sidereal time is also one of the complications commonly used in astronomical watches. Because the unit of measurement of time is borrowed, it is often misunderstood as a unit of time. Sidereal time is calculated from the rotation of the Earth, and its basis is the sidereal day. Due to the orbital motion of the earth around the sun, the sidereal day is about 1/365 (corresponding to about four minutes or one degree) shorter than the mean solar day (that is the day used in daily life), so a sidereal day is equal to 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds . A watch with a sidereal time function displays the time based on the sidereal day.
