Classification and characteristics of watches
Many people who are new to watches do not know the types of watches, and do not know which watch is suitable for them when purchasing. To this end, let me introduce the classification and characteristics of watches to these friends!
Automatic mechanical watch
Automatic mechanical watch is the oldest type of watch and has a long history. It generally refers to a watch that uses a barrel to store power. The beginning of all power is sent from the mainspring winding to the second, third, fourth, fifth, fifth wheel (escapement wheel), the clip, and then to the balance wheel, and then the balance wheel reacts to the gears, making it Return to where it was before, so that the entire operation can be repeated and continue to generate power. Mechanical watches can be divided into two types: manual winding and automatic winding.
Manual winding watch: that is, the hand turns the handle to drive the winding system, which in turn drives the mainspring to be fully wound.
Matters needing attention: When winding the chain for the first time, first wind it up to the full chain by yourself, and see how many laps you have to wind. Later, you can follow the same method to 8 or 9 points. Do not wind the chain too much, so as not to cause the spring to break.
Automatic winding watch: rely on the swing of the arm to drive the automatic disc to swing back and forth to achieve the effect of automatically winding the mainspring.
Matters needing attention: The automatic watch has a spring-retracting device, so the winding is not full. When the watch stops, it only needs to make a few laps to let the mainspring run, and the rest depends on the swing of the hand when wearing it to achieve the winding effect.
This kind of watch belongs to the second generation. It generally refers to the use of batteries and quartz oscillators to calculate and display the time. Its movement is made of quartz. Now the common ones can be divided into analog quartz watches and digital quartz watches. , the biggest feature is accurate, within the normal temperature range, the monthly error is about ±15-20 seconds.
Quartz watches are divided into the following two types:
Analog quartz watch: After using the power of the battery to generate the frequency of the quartz, the IC board is used to divide the frequency and control the coil and the magnetic car, so that it drives the gear train and rotates the pointer. The hour and minute hands are basically driven by electricity.
Digital quartz watch: The basic principle is the same as that of the analog quartz watch, but it does not have a gear train, and directly displays the time with a liquid crystal panel (LCD).
Solar cells are made of silicon wafers with extremely high purity, which are processed to form two extremely thin layers. When sunlight or light shines on the surface of the silicon wafer, light energy can be converted into photocurrent and photovoltage. Current flows from the high-voltage solar cell to the low-voltage watch battery for charging. In order to prevent the voltage from the solar cell flowing into the watch too high, there are diodes and resistors inside to act as buffers to protect the watch battery and its life.
Matters needing attention: Regular inspection is of course unavoidable. In addition, it should be noted that when replacing the battery, plastic or bamboo tweezers must be used. Using metal tweezers can easily cause a short circuit.
